So, there we were, minding our own business, blissfully unaware that our electric bill was about to launch into orbit. One month, it was a bit higher than usual, but we shrugged it off. Maybe we’d left a few too many lights on, or the fridge was working overtime to keep the leftover pizza cold. No big deal...
Fast forward to last month when we opened the bill and nearly fainted. I mean, we almost had to take out a loan just to pay the dang thing! What on earth was going on? With a little bit of poking around we were able to track down the issue. Turns out, it was a tiny, sneaky leak in a pipe at the bottom of our well that had grown to monstrous proportions. This little troublemaker had been quietly growing causing our well pump to work overtime, running almost non-stop like it was training for a marathon.

So, the next time you see your electric bill climbing higher than a cat up a tree, take a minute to check your well system. It might just save you from the shock of an astronomical bill like ours. And remember, even the smallest leaks can cause the biggest headaches—and empty your wallet!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to see if I can convince the electric company that they owe us a refund for the unintentional workout our well pump got. Wish me luck!
